Drylining contractors Taylor Hart Limited are delighted to have completed one of their largest ever projects this month (April 2017). As part of a £3m project for Interserve PLC, they helped to build a new Sports Centre and Swimming Pool at the University of Birmingham’s Edgbaston Campus. Later this year the company plan to release a showcase video of the works they completed there…so watch this space!

 

Leading Dry Lining Company

 

As a leading drylining company based in the Birmingham area, Taylor Hart were a natural fit for the project.

 

The specialist work carried out included installing suspended ceilings, partitions and drylinings to the sports halls, fitting specialist Fermacell boarding to the swimming pool area and applying stunning Sto render to the high level walls to the East and West elevations of the Pool area.

 

State-of-the-art Facilities

 

The University of Birmingham is set to open its new £55million sport and fitness club in May. The club will include the city’s first 50m swimming pool. In addition, there will be a state-of-the art gym, activity studios for fitness classes, a squash court complex, a large multi-sports arena, climbing wall and much, much more.

The new sports centre’s size and quality will be unrivalled in both the health and fitness and higher education markets. It is designed to provide unrivalled opportunities for everyone from beginner to elite athletes and be supported by a world-class team of trainers and sports experts. As well as being home for the university’s many sports clubs, the college’s Performance Centre, which specialises in applied sports science and medicine, will also be located within.

This high-profile project demanded a world-class finish. Taylor Hart were appointed because, as drylining contractors with an excellent track record, the centre’s project managers knew the work would be in safe hands. Taylor Hart have been in the interiors construction trade for nearly twenty years. Their work is tried and tested with many large and distinguished projects to their portfolio.

The University of Birmingham’s vice-chancellor, Sir David Eastwood, called the opening of the new facility a landmark occasion for the University and the City.

 

Enhancing Birmingham’s Infrastructure

 

The whole project is designed to enhance the quality of life for the local community with the pioneering facility enhancing Birmingham’s world-class sporting infrastructure. It is hoped the new centre will help to contribute to the city and region’s ambitions to attract global events to Birmingham and the West Midlands area.
